What Is A Non-Surgical Face Lift?
Non-surgical face lifts are minimally invasive techniques that improve your skin’s appearance.
Dermal injections and radiofrequency (RF) skin treatment modalities are the most common non-surgical methods.
An Excellent Choice
At Mirror Mirror Med Spa, we believe that non-surgical face lifts are an excellent option for those who want to improve their appearance and increase their self-confidence.
Two advantages of non-surgical face lifts are (1) they cost less than more invasive surgeries, and (2) they don’t have much downtime.
If you’re here, you’re probably looking for a way to improve your appearance.
We’d love to help, but before you get started with a non-surgical face lift, here are 5 things you should know.
5 Important Non-Surgical Face Lift Facts
1. There Is More Than One Type of Non-Surgical Face Lift
Not all non-surgical face lifts take the same approach.
Approaches range from injectables like Juvéderm to radiofrequency modalities such as Forma and Morpheus8.
Injectables vs. Radiofrequency
The differences between injectables and radiofrequency modalities are quite pronounced.
Dermal injectables focus on plumping up your skin and smoothing your facial wrinkles using a gel-like filler that is typically derived from hyaluronic acid.
Radiofrequency modalities, by contrast, work by using radiofrequency energy to generate heat beneath the skin in order to promote collagen production.
Juvéderm
One of the most popular injectable fillers today is Juvéderm, which uses synthetic hyaluronic acid.
Juvéderm injections are used for several purposes, including lip enhancement, treating marionette lines, treating the nasolabial area, and more.
PS Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance in the human body, the purpose of which is to help improve the quality of your skin.
Botox
While Juvéderm is popular, it isn’t the only injectable people are using today.
Botox is another trending option, which, not surprisingly, has its own set of uses.
Botox is used to reduce the signs of aging by paralyzing the muscles of the injection site and may work better in certain instances than Juvéderm.
Both options are viable and come with advantages and disadvantages. We will go over these during your consultation if you are interested in learning more.
Forma vs. Morpheus8
Like our injectables, the radiofrequency modalities we use also have important differences.
Forma uses what is known as bi-polar RF energy to stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen, while Morpheus8 uses radiofrequency energy combined with microneedling.
The Forma wand contracts the tissue beneath the skin to make it look firmer, while Morpheus8 penetrates the deeper layer of the skin using microneedles.
Forma is used more for skin laxity and helps to give your skin a more refreshed appearance, whereas Morphues8 treatments are used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles over time and treat acne, skin irregularities, and even stretch marks.
Which One Should You Choose?
Forma is an excellent choice if you’re going to an event and want to look your best, especially since it hardly has any downtime.
Please note that Forma treatment can turn your skin red, but the symptoms typically go away within a few hours.
Morpheus8 is also a strong choice if you want to improve your skin’s appearance over time with a number of sessions.
While Morpheus8 doesn’t have much downtime, you may experience some swelling and redness.
2. You Will Most Likely Need More Than One Treatment
The truth is, unless you already have healthy skin, you are going to need more than one injection or radiofrequency treatment to reach your goal.
This is why getting a surgical face lift may be an appealing option.
Surgical and non-surgical approaches are both viable.
What path you take is a personal decision.
We’ll just add: While surgeries require fewer procedures, it’s also no secret that they come with long recovery times, heavy expenses, and risks.
If you’re on the fence about what to do, we encourage you to call us and talk to us about your goals.
We will give you an estimate of how many treatment sessions it’ll take before you achieve your desired results.
3. We Get More People Coming To Us For Juvéderm Than Botox
Juvéderm and Botox are both excellent options, but we get more people coming to us for Juvéderm out of the two.
Part of the reason for this is that Juvéderm gives results that last longer.
Juvéderm also treats the loss of facial volume caused by aging, which is a concern for many people once they reach their 40s.
Botox primarily treats lines and wrinkles created by the movement of muscles, particularly frown lines and forehead lines.
To be fair, there are plenty of people concerned with improving these specific areas.
The ability to keep your muscles from contracting makes Botox an effective way to remove not just frown lines but also forehead lines and crow’s feet.
Both types of injectables can treat multiple areas of the face, but again, we get a lot of people coming to us for Juvéderm.
4. Non-Surgical Face Lifts Are Not Totally Pain-Free
Although non-surgical face lifts are certainly less painful than surgical methods, they aren’t completely pain-free.
Injectables and Pain
Clients who get injectables can expect there to be some stinging during their session.
If you plan on getting filler anytime soon, you’ll want to prepare for this mentally.
Fortunately, there are topical anesthetics that can be used to reduce the pain of the injections. You shouldn’t feel much pain if an anesthetic is applied.
There may be some bruising after your session.
Microneedling, Radiofrequency, and Pain
Microneedling and radiofrequency with Morpheus8 can cause mild to significant pain and discomfort, especially if you have sensitive skin.
Morpheus8 can also have temporary side effects, such as turning your skin red, causing it to swell, and leaving bruises.
While red skin, swelling, and bruising aren’t desirable, compare this to what you have to go through when getting surgery.
Everyone knows how long, difficult, and taxing post-surgery recovery is.
In our opinion, surgical methods are best avoided unless you’ve consulted your doctor and have agreed with them that they are the right choice.
Contraindications
Please note that injectables and radiofrequency treatments do have some contraindications.
Before scheduling your treatment, please call us and speak to our staff. We will do a health screening to determine if our treatments are right for you.
5. The Length of Your Results Will Vary
How many sessions it takes to show results depends on your skin condition. Our team will give you an estimate once we’ve been able to examine your skin.
We’ll also address how long your treatment results will last.
Keep in mind that certain lifestyle choices will impact how long your results last.
Smoking, stress, poor diet, frequent exposure to the elements, and irregular sleep cycles will all have an impact.
Making Your Results Last Longer Through Self-Care
There are common sense steps you can take to make your skin look better and enhance your results.
Daily facial massages, getting a face mask, moisturizing your skin, and using sunscreen when you are going to be outside for long periods of time are all helpful habits.
Drinking Water
Another simple but helpful tip is to drink plenty of water.
If the outermost layer of your skin doesn’t have plenty of water, it’s possible that your skin could lose its elasticity. Dehydration certainly isn’t going to help.
While drinking water isn’t a magical solution, it is something you should add to your list of ways to enhance your health.
Limiting alcohol and eating more fruits and vegetables are also good steps to take.
Gentle Cleansers
We also recommend using gentle cleansers and avoiding using harsh soaps and chemicals.
